Papola-Casale Airport is six kilometres outside the city centre. The one-terminal airport is just three kilometres north of town. It handles about one million passengers annually. The best places to visit in the outskirts of Brindisi are natural areas such as outcrops, beaches and rocky bays. They are easily brought into reach by rental car. These include the 214-acre Regional Natural Park of Punta della Contessa Salt, a wetland; the Regional Nature Reserve Forest Cerano, which is a protected natural area; and the Regional Nature Reserve Bosco of Santa Teresa and Lucci forest.
When to go
Brindisi enjoys a typically seaside Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, mild and rainier springs and autumns, plus cool but not too frigid winters. All seasons have their advantages and disadvantages, but the warmer months are generally more comfortable, as long as you don’t mind the crowds.
